ULB Unlocked Literal Bible
RV1909 Reina-Valera 1909
1 Long ago God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in many ways.
2 But in these last days, he has spoken to us through a Son, whom he appointed to be the heir of all things. It is through him that God also made the universe.
3 He is the brightness of God's glory, the exact representation of his being. He even holds everything together by the word of his power. After he had made cleansing for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
4 He has become just as superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than their name.
5 For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my son, today I have become your father”? Or to which of the angels did God ever say, “I will be a father to him, and he will be a son to me”?
6 But again, when God brings the firstborn into the world, he says, “All God's angels must worship him.”
7 About the angels he says, “He is the one who makes his angels spirits, and his servants flames of fire.”
8 But to the Son he says, “Your throne, God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is the scepter of justice.
8 Mas al hijo: Tu trono, oh Dios, por el siglo del siglo; vara de equidad la vara de tu reino;
9 You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of joy more than your companions.”
10 “In the beginning, Lord, you laid the earth's foundation. The heavens are the work of your hands.
11 They will perish, but you will continue. They will all wear out like a piece of clothing.
11 Ellos perecerán, mas tú eres permanente; y todos ellos se envejecerán como una vestidura;
12 You will roll them up like a cloak, and they will be changed like a piece of clothing. But you are the same, and your years do not end.”
13 But to which of the angels has God said at any time, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a stool for your feet”?
14 Are not all angels spirits who serve, and who are sent to care for those who will inherit salvation?

  1. Comentario 1:1 John Chrysostom, Homilies on Hebrews (Homily I)

    Truly, "where sin abounded, grace did much more abound." ( Rom. v. 20.) This at least the blessed Paul intimates here also, in the very beginning of his Epistle to the Hebrews.

    Since, "in many places, and in diverse manners," as the Epistle to the Hebrews saith, "God spoke in former times to the fathers through the Prophets;" yet He spoke of Him whom He sent afterwards, that the words of the Prophets might be fulfilled: for "all the promises of God in Him are yea." 4. Cita 1:13 John Chrysostom, Homilies on the Gospel of Matthew (Homily LXV)

    At least Paul puts it as a peculiar privilege of the Only-Begotten, saying, "To which of the angels said He at any time, Sit thou on my right hand? And of the angels He saith, who maketh His angels spirits; but unto the Son, Thy throne, O God.'" How then saith He, "To sit on my right hand and on …
