FBV Free Bible Version (Versión Biblia Libre en inglés) WEB World English Bible (clásica, con deuterocanónicos) 1 It wasn't long before the people started to complain about how much they were suffering. When the Lord heard what they were saying, he became angry. Fire from the Lord burned them, destroying some on the edge of the camp.
1 The people were complaining in the ears of Yahweh. When Yahweh heard it, his anger burned; and Yahweh’s fire burned among them, and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp.
2 The people cried to Moses for help. He prayed to the Lord and the fire subsided. 2 Entonces el pueblo dió voces á Moisés, y Moisés oró á Jehová, y soterróse el fuego.
2 The people cried to Moses; and Moses prayed to Yahweh, and the fire abated.
3 So that place was named Taberah, because the fire from the Lord burned them.
3 The name of that place was called Taberah, because Yahweh’s fire burned among them.
4 A group of troublemakers among them had such intense food cravings they affected the Israelites who started crying again, asking “Who's going to get us some meat to eat? 4 Y el vulgo que había en medio tuvo un vivo deseo, y volvieron, y aun lloraron los hijos de Israel, y dijeron: ¡Quién nos diera á comer carne!
4 The mixed multitude that was among them lusted exceedingly; and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, “Who will give us meat to eat?
5 We think back to all the fish we ate in Egypt that didn't cost us anything, as well as the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions, and garlic.
5 We remember the fish, which we ate in Egypt for nothing; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic;
6 We're fading away here! The only thing we ever see is this manna!” 6 Y ahora nuestra alma se seca; que nada sino maná [ven] nuestros ojos.
6 but now we have lost our appetite. There is nothing at all except this manna to look at.”
7 Manna looked like coriander seeds, light in color like gum resin.
7 The manna was like coriander seed, and it looked like bdellium.
8 The people would go out and collect it, grind it up in a mill or crush it in a mortar. Then they would boil it in a pot and make it into flatbread. It tasted like pastries made with the best olive oil.
8 The people went around, gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in mortars, and boiled it in pots, and made cakes of it. Its taste was like the taste of fresh oil.
9 When the dew came down on the camp at night the manna would come down with it. 9 Y cuando descendía el rocío sobre el real de noche, el maná descendía de sobre él.
9 When the dew fell on the camp in the night, the manna fell on it.
10 Moses heard all the families crying at the entrance to their tents. The Lord became very angry, and Moses was also upset.
10 Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, every man at the door of his tent; and Yahweh’s anger burned greatly; and Moses was displeased.
11 He asked the Lord, “Why have you made things so tough for me, your servant? Why are you so unhappy with me that you have placed on me the heavy responsibility for all these people? 11 Y dijo Moisés á Jehová: ¿Por qué has hecho mal á tu siervo? ¿y por qué no he hallado gracia en tus ojos, que has puesto la carga de todo este pueblo sobre mí?
11 Moses said to Yahweh, “Why have you treated your servant so badly? Why haven’t I found favor in your sight, that you lay the burden of all this people on me?
12 Are they my children? Did I give birth to them, so you could tell me, ‘Hold them close to your chest like a nurse carrying a baby’ and take them to the land you promised to give to their forefathers?
12 Have I conceived all this people? Have I brought them out, that you should tell me, ‘Carry them in your bosom, as a nurse carries a nursing infant, to the land which you swore to their fathers’?
13 Where am I supposed to get meat for all of them? They keep on complaining to me, ‘Get us some meat to eat!’ 13 ¿De dónde tengo yo carne para dar á todo este pueblo? porque lloran á mí, diciendo: Danos carne que comamos.
13 Where could I get meat to give all these people? For they weep before me, saying, ‘Give us meat, that we may eat.’
14 I can't go on carrying all these people by myself—it's just too much.
14 I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.
15 If this is the way you're going to treat me, then please just kill me now so I don't have to face how depressed I've become. Please grant me this one request.” 15 Y si así lo haces tú conmigo, yo te ruego que me des muerte, si he hallado gracia en tus ojos; y que yo no vea mi mal.
15 If you treat me this way, please kill me right now, if I have found favor in your sight; and don’t let me see my wretchedness.”
16 The Lord told Moses, “Bring before me seventy Israelite elders who you know are respected as leaders by the people. Take them to the Tent of Meeting. They will stand there with you. 16 Entonces Jehová dijo á Moisés: Júntame setenta varones de los ancianos de Israel, que tú sabes que son ancianos del pueblo y sus principales; y tráelos á la puerta del tabernáculo del testimonio, y esperen allí contigo.
16 Yahweh said to Moses, “Gather to me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them; and bring them to the Tent of Meeting, that they may stand there with you.
17 I will come down and talk with you there. I will take some of the Spirit you have and give it to them. They will take some of the responsibility for the people so you won't have to bear it alone.
17 I will come down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit which is on you, and will put it on them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you don’t bear it yourself alone.
18 Tell the people: Purify yourselves, for tomorrow you'll have meat to eat, because you were complaining and the Lord heard you saying, ‘Who's going to get us some meat to eat? We were better off in Egypt!’ So the Lord is going to provide you with meat to eat.
18 “Say to the people, ‘Sanctify yourselves in preparation for tomorrow, and you will eat meat; for you have wept in the ears of Yahweh, saying, “Who will give us meat to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt.” Therefore Yahweh will give you meat, and you will eat.
19 You're going to eat it, not for just a day or two, and not for five or ten or twenty days. 19 No comeréis un día, ni dos días, ni cinco días, ni diez días, ni veinte días;
19 You will not eat just one day, or two days, or five days, or ten days, or twenty days,
20 You're going to eat it for a whole month until it makes you vomit and it comes out through your nostrils, because you have rejected the Lord who is right here with you, complaining to him by saying, ‘Why on earth did we ever leave Egypt?’” 20 Sino hasta un mes de tiempo, hasta que os salga por las narices, y os sea en aborrecimiento: por cuanto menospreciasteis á Jehová que está en medio de vosotros, y llorasteis delante de él, diciendo: ¿Para qué salimos acá de Egipto?
20 but a whole month, until it comes out at your nostrils, and it is loathsome to you; because you have rejected Yahweh who is among you, and have wept before him, saying, “Why did we come out of Egypt?”’”
21 But Moses replied, “Here I am with 600,000 people and you're telling me, ‘I'm going to give them meat and they'll eat it for a month’? 21 Entonces dijo Moisés: Seiscientos mil de á pie es el pueblo en medio del cual yo estoy; y tú dices: Les daré carne, y comerán el tiempo de un mes.
21 Moses said, “The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand men on foot; and you have said, ‘I will give them meat, that they may eat a whole month.’
22 Even if all our flocks and herds were slaughtered, would that be enough for them? Even if all the fish in the sea were caught, would that be enough for them?” 22 ¿Se han de degollar para ellos ovejas y bueyes que les basten?
22 Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to be sufficient for them? Shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to be sufficient for them?”
23 “Doesn't the Lord have the power to do that?” the Lord responded. “Now you're going to find out whether what I've said will happen or not!” 23 Entonces Jehová respondió á Moisés: ¿Hase acortado la mano de Jehová? ahora verás si te sucede mi dicho, ó no.
23 Yahweh said to Moses, “Has Yahweh’s hand grown short? Now you will see whether my word will happen to you or not.”
24 Moses went and shared with the people what the Lord said. He summoned seventy elders of the people and had them stand around the tent.
24 Moses went out, and told the people Yahweh’s words; and he gathered seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them around the Tent.
25 Then the Lord came down and talked to him. The Lord took some of the Spirit Moses had and gave it to them. They prophesied, but this didn't ever happen again.
25 Yahweh came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was on him, and put it on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they did so no more.
26 However, two men named Eldad and Medad had stayed behind in the camp. The Spirit came on them too. (They had been put on the list of the seventy elders, but they hadn't gone to the tent. But they prophesied where they were in the camp anyway.) 26 Y habían quedado en el campo dos varones, llamado el uno Eldad y el otro Medad, sobre los cuales también reposó el espíritu: estaban estos entre los escritos, mas no habían salido al tabernáculo; y profetizaron en el campo.
26 But two men remained in the camp. The name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad; and the Spirit rested on them. They were of those who were written, but had not gone out to the Tent; and they prophesied in the camp.
27 A young lad ran and told Moses, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.” 27 Y corrió un mozo, y dió aviso á Moisés, y dijo: Eldad y Medad profetizan en el campo.
27 A young man ran, and told Moses, and said, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp!”
28 Joshua, son of Nun, who had been Moses' assistant since he was young, reacted, saying, “Moses, my lord, you have to stop them!” 28 Entonces respondió Josué hijo de Nun, ministro de Moisés, [uno] de sus mancebos, y dijo: Señor mío Moisés, impídelos.
28 Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his chosen men, answered, “My lord Moses, forbid them!”
29 “Are you jealous for my reputation?” Moses replied. “I wish that every one of the Lord's people were prophets and that the Lord would give his Spirit to all of them!” 29 Y Moisés le respondió: ¿Tienes tú celos por mí? mas ojalá que todo el pueblo de Jehová fuesen profetas, que Jehová pusiera su espíritu sobre ellos.
29 Moses said to him, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all Yahweh’s people were prophets, that Yahweh would put his Spirit on them!”
30 Then Moses went back to the camp with the elders of Israel.
30 Moses went into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.
31 The Lord sent a wind that blew quail in from the sea and deposited them near the camp. They covered the ground to a depth of about two cubits and extended for a day's journey in every direction from the camp.
31 A wind from Yahweh went out and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, about a day’s journey on this side, and a day’s journey on the other side, around the camp, and about two cubits above the surface of the earth.
32 All through that day and night, and all through the next day, the people went on collecting the quail. Everyone collected at least ten homers, and they spread them out to dry all around the camp.
32 The people rose up all that day, and all of that night, and all the next day, and gathered the quails. He who gathered least gathered ten homers; and they spread them all out for themselves around the camp.
33 But while the people were still biting into the meat, before they even chewed it down, the Lord showed his burning anger against them, killing some of them with a severe disease.
33 While the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, Yahweh’s anger burned against the people, and Yahweh struck the people with a very great plague.
34 They named that place Kibroth-hattaavah, because that was where they buried the people who had these intense food cravings.
34 The name of that place was called Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who lusted.
35 Then they moved on from Kibroth-hattaavah to Hazeroth, where they stayed for some time.
35 From Kibroth Hattaavah the people traveled to Hazeroth; and they stayed at Hazeroth.
