RV1909 Reina-Valera 1909
1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in His own likeness.
1 ESTE es el libro de las generaciones de Adam. El día en que crió Dios al hombre, á la semejanza de Dios lo hizo;
2 Male and female He created them, and He blessed them. And in the day they were created, He called them “man.”
3◆ When Adam was 130 years old, he had a son in his own likeness, after his own image; and he named him Seth.
4◆ And after he had become the father of Seth, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters.
5◆ So Adam lived a total of 930 years, and then he died.
6◆ When Seth was 105 years old, he became the father of Enosh.
6 Y vivió Seth ciento y cinco años, y engendró á Enós.
7◆ And after he had become the father of Enosh, Seth lived 807 years and had other sons and daughters.
7 Y vivió Seth, después que engendró á Enós, ochocientos y siete años: y engendró hijos é hijas.
8◆ So Seth lived a total of 912 years, and then he died.
9◆ When Enosh was 90 years old, he became the father of Kenan.
9 Y vivió Enós noventa años, y engendró á Cainán.
10◆ And after he had become the father of Kenan, Enosh lived 815 years and had other sons and daughters.
10 Y vivió Enós después que engendró á Cainán, ochocientos y quince años: y engendró hijos é hijas.
11◆ So Enosh lived a total of 905 years, and then he died.
12◆ When Kenan was 70 years old, he became the father of Mahalalel.
12 Y vivió Cainán setenta años, y engendró á Mahalaleel.
13◆ And after he had become the father of Mahalalel, Kenan lived 840 years and had other sons and daughters.
13 Y vivió Cainán, después que engendró á Mahalaleel, ochocientos y cuarenta años: y engendró hijos é hijas.
14◆ So Kenan lived a total of 910 years, and then he died.
15◆ When Mahalalel was 65 years old, he became the father of Jared.
15 Y vivió Mahalaleel sesenta y cinco años, y engendró á Jared.
16◆ And after he had become the father of Jared, Mahalalel lived 830 years and had other sons and daughters.
16 Y vivió Mahalaleel, después que engendró á Jared, ochocientos y treinta años: y engendró hijos é hijas.
17◆ So Mahalalel lived a total of 895 years, and then he died.
18◆ When Jared was 162 years old, he became the father of Enoch.
18 Y vivió Jared ciento sesenta y dos años, y engendró á Henoch.
19◆ And after he had become the father of Enoch, Jared lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters.
19 Y vivió Jared, después que engendró á Henoch, ochocientos años: y engendró hijos é hijas.
20◆ So Jared lived a total of 962 years, and then he died.
21◆ When Enoch was 65 years old, he became the father of Methuselah.
21 Y vivió Henoch sesenta y cinco años, y engendró á Mathusalam.
22◆ And after he had become the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked with God 300 years and had other sons and daughters.
23◆ So Enoch lived a total of 365 years.
24◆ Enoch walked with God, and then he was no more, because God had taken him away.
25◆ When Methuselah was 187 years old, he became the father of Lamech.
25 Y vivió Mathusalam ciento ochenta y siete años, y engendró á Lamech.
26◆ And after he had become the father of Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years and had other sons and daughters.
27◆ So Methuselah lived a total of 969 years, and then he died.
28◆ When Lamech was 182 years old, he had a son.
29◆ And he named him Noah, saying, “May this one comfort us in the labor and toil of our hands caused by the ground that the LORD has cursed.”
30◆ And after he had become the father of Noah, Lamech lived 595 years and had other sons and daughters.
30 Y vivió Lamech, después que engendró á Noé, quinientos noventa y cinco años: y engendró hijos é hijas.
31◆ So Lamech lived a total of 777 years, and then he died.
32◆ After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

  1. Cita 5:6 Augustine of Hippo, The City of God (Book XV, Chapters 15–16)

Then because it is written, "And Seth lived 205 years," or, according to the Hebrew reading, "105 years, and begat Enos," who but a rash man could affirm that this was his first-born?

  2. Cita 5:3 Gregory of Nazianzus, Theological Orations (The Fourth Theological Oration, Which is the Second Concerning the Son)

For in ordinary language an image is a motionless representation of that which has motion; but in this case it is the living reproduction of the Living One, and is more exactly like than was Seth to Adam, or any son to his father.

  3. Cita 5:8 Augustine of Hippo, The City of God (Book XV, Chapters 15–16)

Will any man do so when it is written of him, "And he begat sons and daughters, and all the days of Seth were 912 years, and he died?" And similarly regarding those whose years are afterwards mentioned, it is not disguised that they begat sons and daughters.

  4. Cita 5:2 Augustine of Hippo, The City of God (Book XV, Chapters 17–19)

Further, Seth signifies "resurrection," and Enos his son signifies "man," not as Adam, which also signifies man, but is used in Hebrew indifferently for man and woman, as it is written, "Male and female created He them, and blessed them, and called their name Adam," leaving no room to doubt that though the woman was distinctively called Eve, yet the …
