RV1909 Reina-Valera 1909
1 This is the record of Adam's descendants. When God created human beings, he made them to be like him.
1 ESTE es el libro de las generaciones de Adam. El día en que crió Dios al hombre, á la semejanza de Dios lo hizo;
2 He created them male and female, and blessed them. On the day he created them he called them “human.”
3◆ When Adam was 130, he had a son who was like him, made in his image; and he named him Seth.
4◆ Adam lived another 800 years after Seth was born, and had other sons and daughters.
5◆ Adam lived a total of 930 years, and then he died.
6◆ When Seth was 105, he had Enosh.
6 Y vivió Seth ciento y cinco años, y engendró á Enós.
7◆ Seth lived another 807 years after Enosh was born, and had other sons and daughters.
7 Y vivió Seth, después que engendró á Enós, ochocientos y siete años: y engendró hijos é hijas.
8◆ Seth lived a total of 912 years, and then he died.
9◆ When Enosh was 90, he had Kenan.
9 Y vivió Enós noventa años, y engendró á Cainán.
10◆ Enosh lived another 815 years after Kenan was born, and had other sons and daughters.
10 Y vivió Enós después que engendró á Cainán, ochocientos y quince años: y engendró hijos é hijas.
11◆ Enosh lived a total of 905 years, and then he died.
12◆ When Kenan was 70, he had Mehalalel.
12 Y vivió Cainán setenta años, y engendró á Mahalaleel.
13◆ Kenan lived another 840 years after Mehalalel was born, and had other sons and daughters.
13 Y vivió Cainán, después que engendró á Mahalaleel, ochocientos y cuarenta años: y engendró hijos é hijas.
14◆ Kenan lived a total of 910 years, and then he died.
15◆ When Mahalalel was 65, he had Jared.
15 Y vivió Mahalaleel sesenta y cinco años, y engendró á Jared.
16◆ After Jared was born, Mahalalel lived another 830 years and had other sons and daughters.
16 Y vivió Mahalaleel, después que engendró á Jared, ochocientos y treinta años: y engendró hijos é hijas.
17◆ Mahalalel lived a total of 895 years, and then he died.
18◆ When Jared was 162, he had Enoch.
18 Y vivió Jared ciento sesenta y dos años, y engendró á Henoch.
19◆ After Enoch was born, Jared lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters.
19 Y vivió Jared, después que engendró á Henoch, ochocientos años: y engendró hijos é hijas.
20◆ Jared lived a total of 962 years, and then he died.
21◆ When Enoch was 65, he had Methuselah.
21 Y vivió Henoch sesenta y cinco años, y engendró á Mathusalam.
22◆ He had a close relationship with God. After Methuselah was born, Enoch lived another 300 years and had other sons and daughters.
23◆ Enoch lived a total of 365 years.
24◆ Enoch had such a close relationship with God that he didn't die, he just wasn't there anymore, because God took him.
25◆ When Methuselah was 187, he had Lamech.
25 Y vivió Mathusalam ciento ochenta y siete años, y engendró á Lamech.
26◆ After Lamech was born, Methuselah lived another 782 years and had other sons and daughters.

28◆ When Lamech was 182, he had a son.
29◆ He named him Noah, with the explanation, “He will provide relief for us from all the hard manual labor we need to do in cultivating the ground the Lord has cursed.”
30◆ After Noah was born, Lamech lived another 595 years and had other sons and daughters.
30 Y vivió Lamech, después que engendró á Noé, quinientos noventa y cinco años: y engendró hijos é hijas.
31◆ Lamech lived a total of 777 years, and then he died.
32◆ Noah was 500 before he had Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

  1. Cita 5:6 Augustine of Hippo, The City of God (Book XV, Chapters 15–16)

Then because it is written, "And Seth lived 205 years," or, according to the Hebrew reading, "105 years, and begat Enos," who but a rash man could affirm that this was his first-born?

  2. Cita 5:3 Gregory of Nazianzus, Theological Orations (The Fourth Theological Oration, Which is the Second Concerning the Son)

For in ordinary language an image is a motionless representation of that which has motion; but in this case it is the living reproduction of the Living One, and is more exactly like than was Seth to Adam, or any son to his father.

  3. Cita 5:8 Augustine of Hippo, The City of God (Book XV, Chapters 15–16)

Will any man do so when it is written of him, "And he begat sons and daughters, and all the days of Seth were 912 years, and he died?" And similarly regarding those whose years are afterwards mentioned, it is not disguised that they begat sons and daughters.

  4. Cita 5:2 Augustine of Hippo, The City of God (Book XV, Chapters 17–19)

Further, Seth signifies "resurrection," and Enos his son signifies "man," not as Adam, which also signifies man, but is used in Hebrew indifferently for man and woman, as it is written, "Male and female created He them, and blessed them, and called their name Adam," leaving no room to doubt that though the woman was distinctively called Eve, yet the …
