1 Koji god veruje da je Isus Hristos, od Boga je rođen; i koji god ljubi Onog koji je rodio, ljubi i Onog koji je rođen od Njega.
1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God. Whoever loves the Father also loves the child who is born of him.
1 Πᾶς ὁ πιστεύων ὅτι Ἰησοῦς ἐστιν ὁ Χριστός, ἐκ τοῦ Θεοῦ γεγέννηται, καὶ πᾶς ὁ ἀγαπῶν τὸν γεννήσαντα ἀγαπᾷ καὶ τὸν γεγεννημένον ἐξ αὐτοῦ.
2 Po tom znamo da ljubimo decu Božiju kad Boga ljubimo i Njegove zapovesti držimo.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments.
2 ἐν τούτῳ γινώσκομεν ὅτι ἀγαπῶμεν τὰ τέκνα τοῦ Θεοῦ, ὅταν τὸν Θεὸν ἀγαπῶμεν καὶ τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτοῦ τηρῶμεν.
3 Jer je ovo ljubav Božija da zapovesti Njegove držimo; i zapovesti Njegove nisu teške.
3 For this is loving God, that we keep his commandments. His commandments are not grievous.
3 αὕτη γάρ ἐστιν ἡ ἀγάπη τοῦ Θεοῦ, ἵνα τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτοῦ τηρῶμεν· καὶ αἱ ἐντολαὶ αὐτοῦ βαρεῖαι οὐκ εἰσίν,
4 Jer svaki koji je rođen od Boga pobeđuje svet; i vera je naša ova pobeda koja pobedi svet.
4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith.
4 ὅτι πᾶν τὸ γεγεννημένον ἐκ τοῦ Θεοῦ νικᾷ τὸν κόσμον· καὶ αὕτη ἐστὶν ἡ νίκη ἡ νικήσασα τὸν κόσμον, ἡ πίστις ἡμῶν.
5 Ko je koji svet pobeđuje osim onog koji veruje da je Isus Sin Božji?
5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
5 τίς ἐστιν ὁ νικῶν τὸν κόσμον εἰ μὴ ὁ πιστεύων ὅτι Ἰησοῦς ἐστιν ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ Θεοῦ;
6 Ovo je Isus Hristos što dođe vodom i krvlju i Duhom, ne samo vodom nego vodom i krvlju; i Duh je koji svedoči, jer je Duh istina,
6 This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.
6 Οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ ἐλθὼν δι᾽ ὕδατος καὶ αἵματος, Ἰησοῦς Χριστός· οὐκ ἐν τῷ ὕδατι μόνον, ἀλλ᾽ ἐν τῷ ὕδατι καὶ τῷ αἵματι· καὶ τὸ Πνεῦμά ἐστι τὸ μαρτυροῦν, ὅτι τὸ Πνεῦμά ἐστιν ἡ ἀλήθεια.
7 For there are three who testify:
7 ὅτι τρεῖς εἰσιν οἱ μαρτυροῦντες ⟦ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ, ὁ Πατήρ, ὁ Λόγος καὶ τὸ Ἅγιον Πνεῦμα, καὶ οὗτοι οἱ τρεῖς ἕν εἰσι· καὶ τρεῖς εἰσιν οἱ μαρτυροῦντες ἐν τῇ γῇ⟧,
8 the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and the three agree as one.
8 τὸ Πνεῦμα καὶ τὸ ὕδωρ καὶ τὸ αἷμα, καὶ οἱ τρεῖς εἰς τὸ ἕν εἰσιν.
9 Kad primamo svedočanstvo čovečije, svedočanstvo je Božije veće; jer je ovo svedočanstvo Božije što svedoči za Sina svog.
9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is God’s testimony which he has testified concerning his Son.
9 εἰ τὴν μαρτυρίαν τῶν ἀνθρώπων λαμβάνομεν, ἡ μαρτυρία τοῦ Θεοῦ μείζων ἐστίν· ὅτι αὕτη ἐστὶν ἡ μαρτυρία τοῦ Θεοῦ ἣν μεμαρτύρηκε περὶ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ.
10 Koji veruje Sina Božijeg ima svedočanstvo u sebi; koji ne veruje Bogu načinio Ga je lažom, jer ne verova svedočanstvu koje svedoči Bog za Sina svog.
10 He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who doesn’t believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning his Son.
10 ὁ πιστεύων εἰς τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ Θεοῦ ἔχει τὴν μαρτυρίαν ἐν αὐτῷ· ὁ μὴ πιστεύων τῷ Θεῷ ψεύστην πεποίηκεν αὐτόν, ὅτι οὐ πεπίστευκεν εἰς τὴν μαρτυρίαν ἣν μεμαρτύρηκεν ὁ Θεὸς περὶ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ.
11 I ovo je svedočanstvo da nam je Bog dao život večni; i ovaj život večni u Sinu je Njegovom.
11 The testimony is this: that God gave to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
11 καὶ αὕτη ἐστὶν ἡ μαρτυρία, ὅτι ζωὴν αἰώνιον ἔδωκεν ἡμῖν ὁ Θεός, καὶ αὕτη ἡ ζωὴ ἐν τῷ υἱῷ αὐτοῦ ἐστιν.
12 Ko ima Sina Božijeg ima život; ko nema Sina Božijeg nema život.
12 He who has the Son has the life. He who doesn’t have God’s Son doesn’t have the life.
12 ὁ ἔχων τὸν υἱὸν ἔχει τὴν ζωήν· ὁ μὴ ἔχων τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ Θεοῦ τὴν ζωὴν οὐκ ἔχει.
13 Ovo pisah vama koji verujete u ime Sina Božijeg, da znate da imate život večni i da verujete u ime Sina Božijeg.
13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
13 Ταῦτα ἔγραψα ὑμῖν τοῖς πιστεύουσιν εἰς τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ Θεοῦ, ἵνα εἰδῆτε ὅτι ζωὴν αἰώνιον ἔχετε, καὶ ἵνα πιστεύητε εἰς τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ Θεοῦ.
14 I ovo je sloboda koju imamo k Njemu da ako šta molimo po volji Njegovoj posluša nas.
14 This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us.
14 καὶ αὕτη ἐστὶν ἡ παρρησία ἣν ἔχομεν πρὸς αὐτόν, ὅτι ἐάν τι αἰτώμεθα κατὰ τὸ θέλημα αὐτοῦ, ἀκούει ἡμῶν.
15 I kad znamo da nas sluša šta god molimo, znamo da će nam dati šta tražimo od Njega.
15 And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.
15 καὶ ἐὰν οἴδαμεν ὅτι ἀκούει ἡμῶν ὃ ἂν αἰτώμεθα, οἴδαμεν ὅτι ἔχομεν τὰ αἰτήματα ἃ ᾐτήκαμεν παρ᾽ αὐτοῦ.
16 Ako ko vidi brata svog gde greši greh ne k smrti, neka moli, i daće mu život, onima koji greše ne k smrti. Ima greh k smrti: za taj ne govorim da moli.
16 If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life for those who sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I don’t say that he should make a request concerning this.
16 Ἐάν τις ἴδῃ τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ ἁμαρτάνοντα ἁμαρτίαν μὴ πρὸς θάνατον, αἰτήσει, καὶ δώσει αὐτῷ ζωήν, τοῖς ἁμαρτάνουσι μὴ πρὸς θάνατον. ἔστιν ἁμαρτία πρὸς θάνατον· οὐ περὶ ἐκείνης λέγω ἵνα ἐρωτήσῃ.
17 Svaka je nepravda greh; i ima greh ne k smrti.
17 All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death.
17 πᾶσα ἀδικία ἁμαρτία ἐστίν· καὶ ἔστιν ἁμαρτία οὐ πρὸς θάνατον.
18 Znamo da nijedan koji je rođen od Boga, ne greši, nego koji je rođen od Boga čuva se, i nečastivi ne dohvata se do njega.
18 We know that whoever is born of God doesn’t sin, but he who was born of God keeps himself, and the evil one doesn’t touch him.
18 Οἴδαμεν ὅτι πᾶς ὁ γεγεννημένος ἐκ τοῦ Θεοῦ οὐχ ἁμαρτάνει, ἀλλ᾽ ὁ γεννηθεὶς ἐκ τοῦ Θεοῦ τηρεῖ ἑαυτόν, καὶ ὁ πονηρὸς οὐχ ἅπτεται αὐτοῦ.
19 Znamo da smo od Boga i sav svet leži u zlu.
19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.
19 οἴδαμεν ὅτι ἐκ τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐσμεν, καὶ ὁ κόσμος ὅλος ἐν τῷ πονηρῷ κεῖται.
20 A znamo da Sin Božji dođe, i dao nam je razum da poznamo Boga Istinitog, i da budemo u istinitom Sinu Njegovom Isusu Hristu. Ovo je Istiniti Bog i Život večni.
20 We know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
20 οἴδαμεν δὲ ὅτι ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ Θεοῦ ἥκει καὶ δέδωκεν ἡμῖν διάνοιαν ἵνα γινώσκωμεν τὸν ἀληθινόν· καί ἐσμεν ἐν τῷ ἀληθινῷ, ἐν τῷ υἱῷ αὐτοῦ Ἰησοῦ Χριστῷ. οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ ἀληθινὸς Θεὸς καὶ ζωὴ αἰώνιος.

21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
21 Τεκνία, φυλάξατε ἑαυτοὺς ἀπὸ τῶν εἰδώλων· ἀμήν.

¿Por qué mi Biblia dice algo distinto?
- 1 Juan 5:7–8: los «tres testigos celestiales»
Las Biblias antiguas en inglés y en español dicen: «tres son los que dan testimonio en el cielo, el Padre, el Verbo, y el Espíritu Santo: y estos tres son uno». Estas palabras, llamadas la Coma joánica, faltan en prácticamente todos los manuscritos griegos anteriores a la Baja Edad Media y en los Padres griegos. El Texto Patriarcal las imprime en letra pequeña, conservadas por deseo del Santo Sínodo. La Trinidad no depende de ellas.

«Comentario» es el comienzo de una homilía o exposición sobre este capítulo (homilías de san Juan Crisóstomo; tratados, sermones y comentarios a los Salmos de san Agustín). «Cita» es una frase en la que las notas de la propia edición identifican la cita de un versículo de este capítulo; solo se conserva si el texto coincide con el versículo. Solo se usan obras de autoría segura. Los Salmos siguen la numeración hebrea (Agustín usa la de los Setenta: su Salmo 50 es aquí el 51).
