1 Poslušajte me, ostrva, i pazite narodi daleki. Gospod me pozva od utrobe; od utrobe matere moje pomenu ime moje.
2 I učinio je usta moja da su kao oštar mač, u senu ruke svoje sakri me; učinio me je sjajnom strelom, i tulu svom sakri me.
2 Y puso mi boca como espada aguda, cubrióme con la sombra de su mano; y púsome por saeta limpia, guardóme en su aljaba;
4 Yo empero dije: Por demás he trabajado, en vano y sin provecho he consumido mi fortaleza; mas mi juicio está delante de Jehová, y mi recompensa con mi Dios.
8 Ovako veli Gospod: U vreme milosno usliših te, i u dan spasenja pomogoh ti; i čuvaću te i daću te da budeš zavet narodu da utvrdiš zemlju i naslediš opustelo nasledstvo;
8 Así dijo Jehová: En hora de contentamiento te oí, y en el día de salud te ayudé: y guardarte he, y te daré por alianza del pueblo, para que levantes la tierra, para que heredes asoladas heredades;
10 Neće biti gladni ni žedni, neće ih biti vrućina ni sunce; jer kome ih je žao, on će ih voditi, i pokraj izvora vodenih provodiće ih.
13 Pevajte, nebesa, i veseli se, zemljo, podvikujte, gore, veselo; jer Gospod uteši svoj narod, i na nevoljnike svoje smilova se.
14 Ali Sion reče: Ostavi me Gospod, i zaboravi me Gospod.
21 A ti ćeš reći u srcu svom: Ko mi ih rodi, jer bejah sirota i inokosna, zarobljena i prognana? I ko ih othrani? Eto, ja bejah ostala sama, a gde oni behu?
25 Jer ovako govori Gospod: i roblje junaku uzeće se i plen jakome oteće se, jer ću se ja preti s onima koji se s tobom pru, i sinove tvoje ja ću izbaviti;

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).
