·
89:3 Hice alianza con mi escogido; juré á David mi siervo, [diciendo]:
89:19 Entonces hablaste en visión á tu santo, y dijiste: Yo he puesto el socorro sobre valiente; he ensalzado [un] escogido de mi pueblo.
31 Если сыновья его оставят закон Мой и не будут ходить по заповедям Моим;
89:30 Si dejaren sus hijos mi ley, y no anduvieren en mis juicios;
89:31 Si profanaren mis estatutos, y no guardaren mis mandamientos;
33 посещу жезлом беззаконие их, и ударами - неправду их;
(Selah.)
39 Но ныне Ты отринул и презрел, прогневался на помазанника Твоего;
89:38 Mas tú desechaste y menospreciaste á tu ungido; y te has airado [con él].
40 пренебрег завет с рабом Твоим, поверг на землю венец его;
43 Ты возвысил десницу противников его, обрадовал всех врагов его;
89:42 Has ensalzado la diestra de sus enemigos; has alegrado á todos sus adversarios.
44 Ты обратил назад острие меча его и не укрепил его на брани;
45 отнял у него блеск и престол его поверг на землю;
89:46 ¿Hasta cuándo, oh Jehová? ¿te esconderás para siempre? ¿arderá tu ira como el fuego?
89:48 ¿Qué hombre vivirá y no verá muerte? ¿librarás su vida del poder del sepulcro? (Selah.)
51 Вспомни, Господи, поругание рабов Твоих, которое я ношу в недре моем от всех сильных народов;
89:52 Bendito Jehová para siempre. Amén, y Amén.

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations). Verse numbers below follow the Hebrew/English numbering: 89.

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).
