DK Serbian Bible: Daničić–Karadžić (Cyrillic)
RV1909 Reina-Valera 1909
2 и будите жељни разумног и правог млека, као новорођена деца, да о њему узрастете за спасење;
3 Si empero habéis gustado que el Señor es benigno;
7 [Ella] es pues honor á vosotros que creéis: mas para los desobedientes, la piedra que los edificadores reprobaron, ésta fué hecha la cabeza del ángulo;
9 А ви сте избрани род, царско свештенство, свети народ, народ добитка, да објавите добродетељи Оног који вас дозва из таме к чудном виделу свом;
13 Будите дакле покорни свакој власти човечијој, Господа ради: ако цару, као господару;
13 Sed pues sujetos á toda ordenación humana por respeto á Dios: ya sea al rey, como á superior;
17 Honrad á todos. Amad la fraternidad. Temed á Dios. Honrad al rey.
22 Који греха не учини, нити се нађе превара у устима Његовим;
23 који не псова кад Га псоваше; не прети кад страда; него се ослањаше на Оног који право суди;

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).

    Let us then continually persevere in our hope, and the earnest of our righteousness, which is Jesus Christ, "who bore our sins in His own body on the tree," "who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth," but endured all things for us, that we might live in Him.

    25. But you, "chosen generation, you weak things of the world," who have forsaken all things that you might "follow the Lord," go after Him, and "confound the things which are mighty;" go after Him, ye beautiful feet, and shine in the firmament, that the heavens may declare His glory, dividing between the light of the perfect, though not as …
