Psalm 50 in VUL = Psalm 51 in RV1909.

VUL Clementine Vulgate
RV1909 Reina-Valera 1909
1 In finem. Psalmus David,
·
·
3 [Miserere mei, Deus, secundum magnam misericordiam tuam; et secundum multitudinem miserationum tuarum, dele iniquitatem meam.
4 Amplius lava me ab iniquitate mea, et a peccato meo munda me.
51:4 A ti, á ti solo he pecado, y he hecho lo malo delante de tus ojos: porque seas reconocido justo en tu palabra, y tenido por puro en tu juicio.
7 Ecce enim in iniquitatibus conceptus sum, et in peccatis concepit me mater mea.
51:5 He aquí, en maldad he sido formado, y en pecado me concibió mi madre.
51:6 He aquí, tú amas la verdad en lo íntimo: y en lo secreto me has hecho comprender sabiduría.
9 Asperges me hyssopo, et mundabor; lavabis me, et super nivem dealbabor.
10 Auditui meo dabis gaudium et lætitiam, et exsultabunt ossa humiliata.
11 Averte faciem tuam a peccatis meis, et omnes iniquitates meas dele.
51:9 Esconde tu rostro de mis pecados, y borra todas mis maldades.
12 Cor mundum crea in me, Deus, et spiritum rectum innova in visceribus meis.
13 Ne projicias me a facie tua, et spiritum sanctum tuum ne auferas a me.
51:11 No me eches de delante de ti; y no quites de mí tu santo espíritu.
14 Redde mihi lætitiam salutaris tui, et spiritu principali confirma me.
17 Domine, labia mea aperies, et os meum annuntiabit laudem tuam.
20 Benigne fac, Domine, in bona voluntate tua Sion, ut ædificentur muri Jerusalem.
21 Tunc acceptabis sacrificium justitiæ, oblationes et holocausta; tunc imponent super altare tuum vitulos.]

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations). Verse numbers below follow the Hebrew/English numbering: 51.

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).
