1 Y COMO se cumplieron los días de Pentecostés, estaban todos unánimes juntos;
2 И уједанпут постаде хука с неба као дување силног ветра, и напуни сву кућу где сеђаху;
2 Y de repente vino un estruendo del cielo como de un viento recio que corría, el cual hinchió toda la casa donde estaban sentados;
15 Јер ови нису пијани као што ви мислите, јер је тек трећи сат дана;
15 Porque éstos no están borrachos, como vosotros pensáis, siendo la hora tercia del día;
17 И биће у последње дане, говори Господ, излићу од Духа свог на свако тело, и прорећи ће синови ваши и кћери ваше, и младићи ваши видеће утваре и старци ваши сниће снове;
20 El sol se volverá en tinieblas, y la luna en sangre, antes que venga el día del Señor, grande y manifiesto;
22 Varones Israelitas, oid estas palabras: Jesús Nazareno, varón aprobado de Dios entre vosotros en maravillas y prodigios y señales, que Dios hizo por él en medio de vosotros, como también vosotros sabéis;
23 овог одређеним саветом и промислом Божјим предана примивши, преко руку безаконика приковасте и убисте;
23 A éste, entregado por determinado consejo y providencia de Dios, prendisteis y matasteis por manos de los inicuos, crucificándole;
25 Јер Давид говори за Њега: Господа једнако гледах пред собом: јер је с десне стране мене, да се не помакнем;
26 Зато се развесели срце моје, и обрадова се језик мој, па још и тело моје почиваће у нади;
26 Por lo cual mi corazón se alegró, y gozóse mi lengua; y aun mi carne descansará en esperanza;
30 Empero siendo profeta, y sabiendo que con juramento le había Dios jurado que del fruto de su lomo, cuanto á la carne, levantaría al Cristo que se sentaría sobre su trono;
38 А Петар им рече: Покајте се, и да се крстите сваки од вас у име Исуса Христа за опроштење греха; и примићете дар Светог Духа;
44 Y todos los que creían estaban juntos; y tenían todas las cosas comunes;

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).

  1. Commentary 2:1 John Chrysostom, Homilies on the Acts of the Apostles (Homily IV)

    Dost thou perceive the type? What is this Pentecost? The time when the sickle was to be put to the harvest, and the ingathering was made. See now the reality, when the time was come to put in the sickle of the word: for here, as the sickle, keen-edged, came the Spirit down.
