1 Сказал также Иисус ученикам: невозможно не придти соблазнам, но горе тому, через кого они приходят;
3 Наблюдайте за собою. Если же согрешит против тебя брат твой, выговори ему; и если покается, прости ему;
15 Entonces uno de ellos, como se vió que estaba limpio, volvió, glorificando á Dios á gran voz;
18 ¿No hubo quien volviese y diese gloria á Dios sino este extranjero?
19 Y díjole: Levántate, vete; tu fe te ha salvado.
20 Y preguntado por los Fariseos, cuándo había de venir el reino de Dios, les respondió y dijo: El reino de Dios no vendrá con advertencia;
22 Сказал также ученикам: придут дни, когда пожелаете видеть хотя один из дней Сына Человеческого, и не увидите;
23 Y os dirán: Helo aquí, ó helo allí. No vayáis, ni sigáis.
28 Так же, как было и во дни Лота: ели, пили, покупали, продавали, садили, строили;
28 Asimismo también como fué en los días de Lot; comían, bebían, compraban, vendían, plantaban, edificaban;
29 но в день, в который Лот вышел из Содома, пролился с неба дождь огненный и серный и истребил всех;
32 Acordaos de la mujer de Lot.
34 Сказываю вам: в ту ночь будут двое на одной постели: один возьмется, а другой оставится;
35 две будут молоть вместе: одна возьмется, а другая оставится;

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).

  1. Commentary 17:3 Augustine of Hippo, Sermons on Selected Lessons of the New Testament (Sermon LXIV)

    The Holy Gospel which we heard just now as it was being read, has admonished touching the remission of sins. And on this subject must ye be admonished now by my discourse.

    In that day, he which shall be upon the house-top, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away; and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. Remember Lot's wife." Is it when our Lord shall have been revealed that men are to give heed to these sayings, and …
