1 Καὶ ἐγένετο λόγος Κυρίου πρὸς μὲ, λέγων,
1 Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,
2 Καὶ σὺ υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, τί ἂν γένοιτο τὸ ξύλον τῆς ἀμπέλου ἐκ πάντων τῶν ξύλων τῶν κλημάτων τῶν ὄντων ἐν τοῖς ξύλοις τοῦ δρυμοῦ;
2 “Son of man, what is the vine tree more than any tree, the vine branch which is among the trees of the forest?
3 Εἰ λήψονται ἐξ αὐτῆς ξύλον τοῦ ποιῆσαι εἰς ἐργασίαν; εἰ λήψονται ἐξ αὐτῆς πάσσαλον τοῦ κρεμᾶσαι ἐπʼ αὐτὸν πᾶν σκεῦος;
3 Will wood be taken of it to make anything? Will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel on it?
4 Πάρεξ ὃ πυρὶ δέδοται εἰς ἀναλωσιν, τὴν κατʼ ἐνιαυτὸν κάθαρσιν ἀπʼ αὐτῆς ἀναλίσκει τὸ πῦρ, καὶ ἐκλείπει εἰς τέλος· μὴ χρήσιμον ἔσται εἰς ἐργασίαν;
4 Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire has devoured both its ends, and the middle of it is burned. Is it profitable for any work?
5 Οὐδὲ ἔτι αὐτοῦ ὄντος ὁλοκλήρου οὐκ ἔσται εἰς ἐργασίαν; μὴ ὅτι ἐὰν καὶ πῦρ αὐτὸ ἀναλώσῃ εἰς τέλος, εἰ ἔτι ἔσται εἰς ἐργασίαν.
5 Behold, when it was whole, it was suitable for no work. How much less, when the fire has devoured it, and it has been burned, will it yet be suitable for any work?”
6 Διὰ τοῦτο εἰπὸν, Τάδε λέγει Κύριος, ὃν τρόπον τὸ ξύλον τῆς ἀμπέλου ἐν τοῖς ξύλοις τοῦ δρυμοῦ ὃ δέδωκα αὐτὸ πυρὶ εἰς ἀνάλωσιν, οὕτως δέδωκα τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Ἰερουσαλήμ.
6 Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: “As the vine wood among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so I will give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
7 Καὶ δώσω τὸ πρόσωπόν μου ἐπʼ αὐτούς· ἐκ τοῦ πυρὸς ἐξελεύσονται, καὶ πῦρ αὐτοὺς καταφάγεται, καὶ ἐπιγνώσονται ὅτι ἐγὼ Κύριος ἐν τῷ στηρίσαι με τὸ πρόσωπόν μου ἐπʼ αὐτούς.
7 I will set my face against them. They will go out from the fire, but the fire will still devour them. Then you will know that I am Yahweh, when I set my face against them.
8 Καὶ δώσω τὴν γῆν εἰς ἀφανισμὸν, ἀνθʼ ὧν παρέπεσον παραπτώματι, λέγει Κύριος.
8 I will make the land desolate, because they have acted unfaithfully,” says the Lord Yahweh.
