1 Psalam Davidov. Gospode, vičem k Tebi, pohitaj k meni, čuj glas moljenja mog, kad vičem k Tebi.
1 Salmo de David. JEHOVÁ, á ti he clamado: apresúrate á mí; escucha mi voz, cuando te invocare.
1 A Psalm by David. Yahweh, I have called on you. Come to me quickly! Listen to my voice when I call to you.
2 Nek izađe molitva moja kao kad pred lice Tvoje, dizanje ruku mojih kao prinos, večernji.
2 Let my prayer be set before you like incense; the lifting up of my hands like the evening sacrifice.
3 Set a watch, Yahweh, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips.
4 Don’t incline my heart to any evil thing, to practice deeds of wickedness with men who work iniquity. Don’t let me eat of their delicacies.
5 Neka me bije pravednik, to je milost; neka me kara, to je ulje za glavu moju; glava moja neće odbaciti, ako će i više; nego je molitva moja protiv zloće njihove.
5 Let the righteous strike me, it is kindness; let him reprove me, it is like oil on the head; don’t let my head refuse it; Yet my prayer is always against evil deeds.
6 Their judges are thrown down by the sides of the rock. They will hear my words, for they are well spoken.
7 “As when one plows and breaks up the earth, our bones are scattered at the mouth of Sheol.”
8 Por tanto á ti, oh Jehová Señor, [miran] mis ojos: en ti he confiado, no desampares mi alma.
8 For my eyes are on you, Yahweh, the Lord. I take refuge in you. Don’t leave my soul destitute.
9 Keep me from the snare which they have laid for me, from the traps of the workers of iniquity.
10 Pašće u mreže svoje bezbožnici, a ja ću jedan proći.
10 Let the wicked fall together into their own nets while I pass by.

  1. Comentario Augustine of Hippo, Expositions on the Psalms (Psalm CXL)

What this Psalm containeth, I believe that ye perceived when it was being chanted; for therein the Church of Christ, set in the midst of the wicked, complaineth and groaneth, and poureth out prayer to God.

… yet hath not given me over to death." "For whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth." "The righteous," saith it, "shall chasten me in mercy, and reprove me; but let not the oil of sinners make fat my head." And again he saith, "Blessed is the man whom the Lord reproveth, and reject not …

  3. Cita 141:3 Augustine of Hippo, Confessions (Book V, Chapters IX–X)

Not yet, therefore, hadst Thou set a watch before my mouth, and kept the door of my lips, that my heart might not incline to wicked speeches, to make excuses of sins, with men that work iniquity --and, therefore, was I still united with their "Elect."

  4. Cita 141:2 John Chrysostom, Homilies on the Gospel of Matthew (Homily XVI)

For as to this also being a sacrifice, hear what the prophet saith: "A sacrifice of praise will glorify me;" and again, "Sacrifice to God a sacrifice of praise;" and, "The lifting up of mine hands is an evening sacrifice." So that if it be but a prayer, which thou art offering in such a frame of mind, it were …

  5. Cita 141:2 John Chrysostom, Homilies on the Gospel of Matthew (Homily LXXIII)

But first listen to what thou sayest in the Psalm, "Let my prayer be set forth in Thy sight as incense." When then not incense, but a stinking smoke arises from thee, and from thy deeds, what punishment dost thou not deserve to undergo?
