1 Psalam Davidov.
3 On ti prašta sve grehe i isceljuje sve bolesti tvoje;
3 El es quien perdona todas tus iniquidades, el que sana todas tus dolencias;
4 Izbavlja od groba život tvoj, venčava te dobrotom i milošću;
4 El que rescata del hoyo tu vida, el que te corona de favores y misericordias;
6 Gospod tvori pravdu i sud svima kojima se krivo čini.
7 Pokaza puteve svoje Mojsiju, sinovima Izrailjevim dela svoja.
8 Milostiv je i dobar Gospod, spor na gnev i veoma blag.
16 Dune vetar na nj, i nestane ga, niti će ga više poznati mesto njegovo.
17 Mas la misericordia de Jehová desde el siglo y hasta el siglo sobre los que le temen, y su justicia sobre los hijos de los hijos;
19 Gospod na nebesima postavi presto svoj, i carstvo Njegovo svim vlada.
21 Blagosiljajte Gospoda sve vojske Njegove, sluge Njegove, koje tvorite volju Njegovu.
22 Blagosiljajte Gospoda sva dela Njegova, po svim mestima vlade Njegove!

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).

  1. Commentary Augustine of Hippo, Expositions on the Psalms (Psalm CII)

    Behold, one poor man prayeth, and prayeth not in silence. We may therefore hear him, and see who he is: whether it be not perchance He, of whom the Apostle saith, "Though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich." If it is He, then, how is He poor?

  2. Quotes verse 103:3 Augustine of Hippo, Confessions (Book IV, Chapters VIII–XII)

    Commit to truth whatsoever thou hast from the truth, and nothing shall thou lose; and thy decay shall flourish again, and all thy diseases be healed, and thy perishable parts shall be reformed and renovated, and drawn together to thee; nor shall they put thee down where themselves descend, but they shall abide with thee, and continue for ever before …

    What He saith therefore is this: "As there all things are done without hindrance, and the angels are not partly obedient and partly disobedient, but in all things yield and obey (for He saith, Mighty in strength, performing His word'); so vouchsafe that we men may not do Thy will by halves, but perform all things as Thou willest." For the tradition that has been given us by the quickening grace must remain for ever inviolate. He who redeemed our life from destruction gave us power of renewal, whereof the cause is ineffable and hidden in mystery, but bringing great salvation to our souls, so that to add or to take away anything involves manifestly a falling away from …
