1 In finem, ne disperdas. David in tituli inscriptionem.

2 [Si vere utique justitiam loquimini, recta judicate, filii hominum.
58:1 Al Músico principal: sobre No destruyas: Michtam de David. OH congregación, ¿pronunciáis en verdad justicia? ¿juzgáis rectamente, hijos de los hombres?
58:1 For the Chief Musician. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” A poem by David. Do you indeed speak righteousness, silent ones? Do you judge blamelessly, you sons of men?
3 Etenim in corde iniquitates operamini; in terra injustitias manus vestræ concinnant.
58:2 No, in your heart you plot injustice. You measure out the violence of your hands on the earth.
58:3 The wicked go astray from the womb. They are wayward as soon as they are born, speaking lies.
5 Furor illis secundum similitudinem serpentis, sicut aspidis surdæ et obturantis aures suas,
58:4 Veneno tienen semejante al veneno de la serpiente: [son] como áspide sordo que cierra su oído;
58:4 Their poison is like the poison of a snake, like a deaf cobra that stops its ear,
58:5 which doesn’t listen to the voice of charmers, no matter how skillful the charmer may be.
7 Deus conteret dentes eorum in ore ipsorum; molas leonum confringet Dominus.
58:6 Break their teeth, God, in their mouth. Break out the great teeth of the young lions, Yahweh.
8 Ad nihilum devenient tamquam aqua decurrens; intendit arcum suum donec infirmentur.
58:7 Let them vanish like water that flows away. When they draw the bow, let their arrows be made blunt.
58:8 Let them be like a snail which melts and passes away, like the stillborn child, who has not seen the sun.
10 Priusquam intelligerent spinæ vestræ rhamnum, sicut viventes sic in ira absorbet eos.
58:9 Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns, he will sweep away the green and the burning alike.
11 Lætabitur justus cum viderit vindictam; manus suas lavabit in sanguine peccatoris.
58:10 The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance. He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked,
58:11 so that men shall say, “Most certainly there is a reward for the righteous. Most certainly there is a God who judges the earth.”

  1. Comentario Augustine of Hippo, Expositions on the Psalms (Psalm LVII)

Because then this Psalm is singing of the Passion of the Lord, see what is the title that it hath: "at the end." The end is Christ. Why hath He been called end? Not as one that consumeth, but one that consummateth....

  2. Cita 58:3 Irenaeus of Lyons, Against Heresies (Book III, Chapter X)

As also David says, "The alienated are sinners from the womb: they go astray as soon as they are born." And it was on account of this that he, turning them to their Lord, prepared, in the spirit and power of Elias, a perfect people for the Lord.
