1 Aliluja. Hvalite Gospoda, jer je dobar, jer je doveka milost Njegova.
1 ALELUYA.
3 Blago onima koji drže istinu i tvore pravo svagda!
4 Acuérdate de mí, oh Jehová, según [tu] benevolencia para con tu pueblo: visítame con tu salud;
6 Zgrešismo s ocima svojim, postasmo krivci, bezakonici.
6 Pecamos con nuestros padres, hicimos iniquidad, hicimos impiedad.
9 Zapreti Crvenom Moru, i presahnu; i prevede ih preko bezdane kao preko pustinje;
12 Tada verovaše rečima Njegovim, i pevaše Mu hvalu.
15 On ispuni molbu njihovu, ali posla pogibao na dušu njihovu.
16 Pozavideše Mojsiju i Aronu, kog beše Gospod osvetio.
17 Rasede se zemlja, i proždre Datana i zatrpa četu Avironovu.
18 I spali oganj četu njihovu, i plamen sažeže bezbožnike.
21 Olvidaron al Dios de su salud, que había hecho grandezas en Egipto;
22 Divna u zemlji Hamovoj, strašna na Crvenom Moru.
24 Empero aborrecieron la tierra deseable: no creyeron á su palabra;
29 I rasrdiše Boga delima svojim, i udari u njih pogibao.
30 I ustade Fines, i umilostivi, i prestade pogibao.
32 I razgneviše Boga na vodi Merivi, i Mojsije postrada njih radi;
32 También le irritaron en las aguas de Meriba: é hizo mal á Moisés por causa de ellos;
33 Jer dotužiše duhu njegovom, i pogreši ustima svojim.
34 Ne istrebiše narode, za koje im je Gospod rekao;
34 No destruyeron los pueblos que Jehová les dijo;
35 Nego se pomešaše s neznabošcima, i naučiše dela njihova.
36 Stadoše služiti idolima njihovim, i oni im biše zamka.
37 Sinove svoje i kćeri svoje prinosiše na žrtvu đavolima.
37 Y sacrificaron sus hijos y sus hijas á los demonios;
39 Oskvrniše sebe delima svojim, i činiše preljubu postupanjem svojim.
40 I planu gnev Gospodnji na narod Njegov, i omrznu Mu deo Njegov.
41 I predade ih u ruke neznabožačke, i nenavidnici njihovi stadoše gospodariti nad njima.
42 Dosađivaše im neprijatelji njihovi, i oni biše pokoreni pod vlast njihovu.
44 Ali On pogleda na nevolju njihovu, čuvši tužnjavu njihovu,
45 I opomenu se zaveta svog s njima, i pokaja se po velikoj milosti svojoj;
48 Blagosloven Gospod Bog Izrailjev od veka i doveka! I sav narod neka kaže: Amin! Aliluja!
Aleluya.

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).

  1. Commentary Augustine of Hippo, Expositions on the Psalms (Psalm CV)

    This Psalm is the first of those to which is prefixed the word Allelujah; the meaning of which word, or rather two words, is, Praise the Lord. For this reason he beginneth with praises: "O confess unto the Lord, and call upon His Name" (ver.

    … into that Egyptian food for which Esau lost his birthright; for that Thy first-born people worshipped the head of a four-footed beast instead of Thee, turning back in heart towards Egypt, and prostrating Thy image--their own soul--before the image "of an ox that eateth grass." These things found I there; but I fed not on them.

But Phinehas became a manslayer, and "it was counted unto him" (so He speaks) "for righteousness:" and Abraham again on becoming not a man-slayer only, but (which was far worse) the …
