VUL Clementine Vulgate
RV1909 Reina-Valera 1909
At ille respondens, ait illi: Tu dicis.
3 Et accusabant eum summi sacerdotes in multis.
4 Pilatus autem rursum interrogavit eum, dicens: Non respondes quidquam? vide in quantis te accusant.
4 Y le preguntó otra vez Pilato, diciendo: ¿No respondes algo?
12 Pilatus autem iterum respondens, ait illis: Quid ergo vultis faciam regi Judæorum?
13 At illi iterum clamaverunt: Crucifige eum.
13 Y ellos volvieron á dar voces: Crucifícale.
14 Pilatus vero dicebat illis: Quid enim mali fecit? At illi magis clamabant: Crucifige eum.
19 Et percutiebant caput ejus arundine: et conspuebant eum, et ponentes genua, adorabant eum.
24 Et crucifigentes eum, diviserunt vestimenta ejus, mittentes sortem super eis, quis quid tolleret.
27 Et cum eo crucifigunt duos latrones: unum a dextris, et alium a sinistris ejus.
38 Et velum templi scissum est in duo, a summo usque deorsum.
40 Y también estaban [algunas] mujeres mirando de lejos; entre las cuales estaba María Magdalena, y María la madre de Jacobo el menor y de José, y Salomé;
45 Et cum cognovisset a centurione, donavit corpus Joseph.

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).
