1 Καὶ εἰσήνεγκαν τὴν κιβωτὸν τοῦ Θεοῦ, καὶ ἀπηρείσαντο αὐτὴν ἐν μέσῳ τῆς σκηνῆς ἧς ἔπηξεν αὐτῇ Δαυὶδ, καὶ προσήνεγκαν ὁλοκαυτώματα καὶ σωτηρίου ἐναντίον τοῦ Θεοῦ.
1 They brought in God’s ark, and set it in the middle of the tent that David had pitched for it; and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.
2 Καὶ συνετέλεσε Δαυὶδ ἀναφέρων ὁλοκαυτώματα καὶ σωτηρίου, καὶ εὐλόγησε τὸν λαὸν ἐν ὀνόματι Κυρίου.
2 When David had finished offering the burnt offering and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in Yahweh’s name.
3 Καὶ διεμέρισε παντὶ ἀνδρὶ Ἰσραὴλ ἀπὸ ἀνδρὸς καὶ ἕως γυναικὸς, τῷ ἀνδρὶ ἄρτον ἕνα ἀρτοκοπικὸν, καὶ ἀμορείτην.
3 He gave to everyone of Israel, both man and woman, to everyone a loaf of bread, a portion of meat, and a cake of raisins.
4 Καὶ ἔταξε κατὰ πρόσωπον τῆς κιβωτοῦ διαθήκης Κυρίου ἐκ τῶν Λευιτῶν λειτουργοῦντας ἀναφωνοῦντας, καὶ ἐξομολογεῖσθαι καὶ αἰνεῖν Κύριον τὸν Θεὸν Ἰσραήλ·
4 He appointed some of the Levites to minister before Yahweh’s ark, and to commemorate, to thank, and to praise Yahweh, the God of Israel:
5 Ἀσὰφ ὁ ἡγούμενος, καὶ δευτερεύων αὐτῷ Ζαχαρίας, Ἰεϊὴλ, Σεμιραμὼθ, καὶ Ἰεϊὴλ, Ματταθίας, Ἐλιὰβ, καὶ Βαναΐας, καὶ Ἀβδεδομ· καὶ Ἰεϊὴλ ἐν ὀργάνοις, νάβλαις, κινύραις, καὶ Ἀσὰφ ἐν κυμβάλοις ἀναφωνῶν·
5 Asaph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, with stringed instruments and with harps; and Asaph with cymbals, sounding aloud;
6 Καὶ Βαναίας καὶ Ὀζιὴλ οἱ ἱερεῖς ἐν ταῖς σάλπιγξι διαπαντὸς ἐναντίον τῆς κιβωτοῦ τῆς διαθήκης τοῦ Θεοῦ.
6 with Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually, before the ark of the covenant of God.
7 Ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ. Τότε ἔταξε Δαυὶδ ἐν ἀρχῇ τοῦ αἰνεῖν τὸν Κύριον ἐν χειρὶ Ἀσὰφ καὶ τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτοῦ.
7 Then on that day David first ordained giving of thanks to Yahweh by the hand of Asaph and his brothers.
8 Ὠδη. Ἐξομολογεῖσθε τῷ Κυρίῳ, ἐπικαλεῖσθε αὐτὸν ἐν ὀνόματι αὐτοῦ, γνωρίσατε ἐν λαοῖς τὰ ἐπιτηδεύματα αὐτοῦ.
8 Oh give thanks to Yahweh. Call on his name. Make what he has done known among the peoples.
9 Ἄσατε αὐτῷ καὶ ὑμνήσατε αὐτῷ, διηγήσασθε πᾶσι τὰ θαυμάσια αὐτοῦ, ἃ ἐποίησε Κύριος.
9 Sing to him. Sing praises to him. Tell of all his marvelous works.
10 Αἰνεῖτε ἐν ὀνόματι ἁγίῳ αὐτοῦ, εὐφρανθήσεται καρδία ζητοῦσα τὴν εὐδοκίαν αὐτοῦ.
10 Glory in his holy name. Let the heart of those who seek Yahweh rejoice.
11 Ζητήσατε τὸν Κύριον καὶ ἰσχύσατε, ζητήσατε τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ διαπαντός.
11 Seek Yahweh and his strength. Seek his face forever more.
12 Μνημονεύετε τὰ θαυμάσια αὐτοῦ ἃ ἐποίησε, τέρατα καὶ κρίματα τοῦ στόματος αὐτοῦ.
12 Remember his marvelous works that he has done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth,
13 σπέρμα Ἰσραὴλ παῖδες αὐτοῦ, υἱοὶ Ἰακὼβ ἐκλεκτοὶ αὐτοῦ.
13 you offspring of Israel his servant, you children of Jacob, his chosen ones.
14 Αὐτὸς Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν, ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ τὰ κρίματα αὐτοῦ.
14 He is Yahweh our God. His judgments are in all the earth.
15 Μνημονεύωμεν εἰς αἰῶνα διαθήκης αὐτοῦ, λόγον αὐτοῦ ὃν ἐνετείλατο εἰς χιλίας γενεὰς,
15 Remember his covenant forever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations,
16 ὃν διέθετο τῷ Ἁβραὰμ, καὶ τὸν ὅρκον αὐτοῦ τῷ Ἰσαάκ.
16 the covenant which he made with Abraham, his oath to Isaac.
17 Ἔστησεν αὐτὸν τῷ Ἰακὼβ εἰς πρόσταγμα, τῷ Ἰσραὴλ διαθήκην αἰώνιον,
17 He confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,
18 λέγων, σοὶ δώσω τὴν γῆν Χαναὰν σχοίνισμα κληρονομίας ὑμῶν.
18 saying, “I will give you the land of Canaan, The lot of your inheritance,”
19 Ἐν τῷ γενέσθαι αὐτοὺς ὀλιγοστοὺς ἀριθμῷ, ὡς ἐσμικρύνθησαν, καὶ παρῴκησαν ἐν αὐτῇ,
19 when you were but a few men in number, yes, very few, and foreigners in it.
20 καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ἀπὸ ἔθνους εἰς ἔθνος, καὶ ἀπὸ βασιλείας εἰς λαὸν ἕτερον,
20 They went about from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people.
21 οὐκ ἀφῆκεν ἄνδρα τοῦ δυναστεῦσαι αὐτοὺς, καὶ ἤλεγξε περὶ αὐτῶν βασιλεῖς.
21 He allowed no man to do them wrong. Yes, he reproved kings for their sakes,
22 Μὴ ἅψησθε τῶν χριστῶν μου, καὶ ἐν τοῖς πρόφήταις μου μὴ πονηρεύεσθε.
22 “Don’t touch my anointed ones! Do my prophets no harm!”
23 Ἄσατε τῷ Κυρίῳ πᾶσα ἡ γῆ, ἀναγγείλατε ἐξ ἡμέρας εἰς ἡμέραν σωτηρίαν αὐτοῦ.
23 Sing to Yahweh, all the earth! Display his salvation from day to day. 24 Declare his glory among the nations, and his marvelous works among all the peoples.
23a Ἐξηγεῖσθε ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσι τὴν δόξαν αὐτοῦ, ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς λαοῖς τὰ θαυμάσια αὐτοῦ.

25 Ὅτι μέγας Κύριος καὶ αἰνετὸς σφόδρα, φοβερός ἐστιν ἐπὶ πάντας τοὺς θεούς.
25 For great is Yahweh, and greatly to be praised. He also is to be feared above all gods.
26 Ὅτι πάντες οἱ θεοὶ τῶν ἐθνῶν εἴδωλα, καὶ ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν οὐρανοὺς ἐποίησε.
26 For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but Yahweh made the heavens.
27 Δόξα καὶ ἔπαινος κατὰ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ, ἰσχὺς καὶ καύχημα ἐν τόπῳ αὐτοῦ.
27 Honor and majesty are before him. Strength and gladness are in his place.
28 Δότε τῷ Κυρίῳ αἱ πατριαὶ τῶν ἐθνῶν, δότε τῷ Κυρίῳ δόξαν καὶ ἰσχὺν,
28 Ascribe to Yahweh, you families of the peoples, ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength!
29 δότε τῷ Κυρίῳ δόξαν ὀνόματι αὐτοῦ· λάβετε δῶρα καὶ ἐνέγκατε κατὰ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ, καὶ προσκυνήσατε Κυρίῳ ἐν αὐλαῖς ἁγίαις αὐτοῦ.
29 Ascribe to Yahweh the glory due to his name. Bring an offering, and come before him. Worship Yahweh in holy array.
30 Φοβηθήτω ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ πᾶσα ἡ γῆ, κατορθωθήτω ἡ γῆ, καὶ μὴ σαλευθήτω.
30 Tremble before him, all the earth. The world also is established that it can’t be moved.
31 Εὐφρανθήτω ὁ οὐρανὸς, καὶ ἀγαλλιάσθω ἡ γῆ, καὶ εἰπάτωσαν ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσι, Κύριος βασιλεύων.
31 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice! Let them say among the nations, “Yahweh reigns!”
32 Βομβήσει ἡ θάλασσα σὺν τῷ πληρώματι, καὶ ξὺλον ἀγροῦ καὶ πάντα τὰ ἐν αὐτῷ
32 Let the sea roar, and its fullness! Let the field exult, and all that is in it!
33 Τότε εὐφρανθήσεται τὰ ξύλατοῦ δρυμοῦ ἀπὸ προσώπου Κυρίου, ὅτι ἦλθε κρίναι τὴν γῆν.
33 Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy before Yahweh, for he comes to judge the earth.
34 Ἐξομολογεῖσθε τῷ Κυρίῳ, ὅτι ἀγαθὸν, ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ.
34 Oh give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.
35 Καὶ εἴπατε, σῶσον ἡμᾶς, ὁ Θεὸς τῆς σωτηρίας ἡμῶν καὶ ἄθροισον ἡμᾶς. καὶ ἐξελοῦ ἡμᾶς ἐκ τῶν ἐθνῶν, τοῦ αἴνειν τὸ ὄνομα τὸ ἅγιόν σου, καὶ καυχᾶσθαι ἐν ταῖς αἰνέσεσί σου.
35 Say, “Save us, God of our salvation! Gather us together and deliver us from the nations, to give thanks to your holy name, to triumph in your praise.”
36 Εὐλογημένος Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς Ἰσραὴλ ἀπὸ τοῦ αἰῶνος καὶ ἕως τοῦ αἰῶνος· Καὶ ἐρεῖ πᾶς ὁ λαὸς, ἀμήν· καὶ ᾔνεσαν τῷ Κυρίῳ.
36 Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, from everlasting even to everlasting. All the people said, “Amen,” and praised Yahweh.
37 Καὶ κατέλιπον ἐκεῖ ἔναντι τῆς κιβωτοῦ διαθήκης Κυρίου τὸν Ἀσὰφ καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ, τοῦ λειτουργεῖν ἐναντίον τῆς κιβωτοῦ διαπαντὸς τὸ τῆς ἡμέρας εἰς ἡμέραν.
37 So he left Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of Yahweh’s covenant, to minister before the ark continually, as every day’s work required;
38 Καὶ Ἀβδεδὸμ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ, ἑξήκοντα καὶ ὀκτώ· καὶ Ἀβδεδὸμ υἱὸς Ἰδιθοὺν, καὶ Ὀσὰ, εἰς τοὺς πυλωρούς.
38 and Obed-Edom with their sixty-eight relatives; Obed-Edom also the son of Jeduthun and Hosah to be doorkeepers;
39 Καὶ τὸν Σαδὼκ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ τοὺς ἱερεῖς ἐναντίον τῆς σκηνῆς Κυρίου ἐν βαμὰ τῇ ἐν Γαβαὼν,
39 and Zadok the priest and his brothers the priests, before Yahweh’s tabernacle in the high place that was at Gibeon,
40 τοῦ ἀναφέρειν ὁλοκαυτώματα τῷ Κυρίῳ ἐπὶ τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου τῶν ὁλοκαυτωμάτων διαπαντὸς τοπρωῒ καὶ τοεσπέρας, καὶ κατὰ πάντα τὰ γεγραμμένα ἐν νόμῳ Κυρίου ὅσα ἐνετείλατο ἐφʼ υἱοῖς Ἰσραὴλ ἐν χειρὶ Μωυσῆ τοῦ θεράποντος τοῦ Θεοῦ.
40 to offer burnt offerings to Yahweh on the altar of burnt offering continually morning and evening, even according to all that is written in Yahweh’s law, which he commanded to Israel;
41 Καὶ μετʼ αὐτοῦ Αἰμὰν καὶ Ἰδιθοὺν, καὶ οἱ λοιποὶ ἐκλεγέντες ἐπʼ ὀνόματος τοῦ αἰνεῖν τὸν Κύριον, ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ.
41 and with them Heman and Jeduthun and the rest who were chosen, who were mentioned by name, to give thanks to Yahweh, because his loving kindness endures forever;
42 Καὶ μετʼ αὐτῶν σάλπιγγες καὶ κὺμβαλα τοῦ ἀναφωνεῖν καὶ ὄργανα τῶν ῷδῶν τοῖ Θεοῦ, οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ Ἰδιθοὺν εἰς τὴν πύλην.
42 and with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should sound aloud, and with instruments for the songs of God, and the sons of Jeduthun to be at the gate.
43 Καὶ ἐπορεύθη πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ἕκαστος εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐπέστρεψε Δαυὶδ τοῦ εὐλογῆσαι τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ.
43 All the people departed, each man to his house; and David returned to bless his house.

Cómo se eligieron

«Comentario» es el comienzo de una homilía o exposición sobre este capítulo (homilías de san Juan Crisóstomo; tratados, sermones y comentarios a los Salmos de san Agustín). «Cita» es una frase en la que las notas de la propia edición identifican la cita de un versículo de este capítulo; solo se conserva si el texto coincide con el versículo. Solo se usan obras de autoría segura. Los Salmos siguen la numeración hebrea (Agustín usa la de los Setenta: su Salmo 50 es aquí el 51).
