1 U početku stvori Bog nebo i zemlju.

1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
2 A zemlja beše bez obličja i pusta, i beše tama nad bezdanom; i duh Božji dizaše se nad vodom.
2 Y la tierra estaba desordenada y vacía, y las tinieblas estaban sobre la haz del abismo, y el Espíritu de Dios se movía sobre la haz de las aguas.
2 The earth was formless and empty. Darkness was on the surface of the deep and God’s Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters.
3 I reče Bog: Neka bude svetlost. I bi svetlost.
3 Y dijo Dios: Sea la luz: y fué la luz.
3 God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
4 I vide Bog svetlost da je dobra; i rastavi Bog svetlost od tame.
4 Y vió Dios que la luz era buena: y apartó Dios la luz de las tinieblas.
4 God saw the light, and saw that it was good. God divided the light from the darkness.
5 I svetlost nazva Bog dan, a tamu nazva noć. I bi veče i bi jutro, dan prvi.
5 Y llamó Dios á la luz Día, y á las tinieblas llamó Noche: y fué la tarde y la mañana un día.
5 God called the light “day”, and the darkness he called “night”. There was evening and there was morning, the first day.
6 Potom reče Bog: Neka bude svod posred vode, da rastavlja vodu od vode.
6 Y dijo Dios: Haya expansión en medio de las aguas, y separe las aguas de las aguas.
6 God said, “Let there be an expanse in the middle of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”
7 I stvori Bog svod, i rastavi vodu pod svodom od vode nad svodom; i bi tako.
7 E hizo Dios la expansión, y apartó las aguas que estaban debajo de la expansión, de las aguas que estaban sobre la expansión: y fué así.
7 God made the expanse, and divided the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so.
8 A svod nazva Bog nebo. I bi veče i bi jutro, dan drugi.
8 Y llamó Dios á la expansión Cielos: y fué la tarde y la mañana el día segundo.
8 God called the expanse “sky”. There was evening and there was morning, a second day.
9 Potom reče Bog: Neka se sabere voda što je pod nebom na jedno mesto, i neka se pokaže suvo. I bi tako.
9 Y dijo Dios: Júntense las aguas que [están] debajo de los cielos en un lugar, y descúbrase la seca: y fué así.
9 God said, “Let the waters under the sky be gathered together to one place, and let the dry land appear;” and it was so.
10 I suvo nazva Bog zemlja, a zborišta vodena nazva mora; i vide Bog da je dobro.
10 Y llamó Dios á la seca Tierra, y á la reunión de las aguas llamó Mares: y vió Dios que era bueno.
10 God called the dry land “earth”, and the gathering together of the waters he called “seas”. God saw that it was good.
11 Opet reče Bog: Neka pusti zemlja iz sebe travu, bilje, što nosi seme, i drvo rodno, koje rađa rod po svojim vrstama, u kome će biti seme njegovo na zemlji. I bi tako.
11 Y dijo Dios: Produzca la tierra hierba verde, hierba que dé simiente; árbol de fruto que dé fruto según su género, que su simiente esté en él, sobre la tierra: y fué así.
11 God said, “Let the earth yield grass, herbs yielding seeds, and fruit trees bearing fruit after their kind, with their seeds in it, on the earth;” and it was so.
12 I pusti zemlja iz sebe travu, bilje, što nosi seme po svojim vrstama, i drvo, koje rađa rod, u kome je seme njegovo po njegovim vrstama. I vide Bog da je dobro.
12 Y produjo la tierra hierba verde, hierba que da simiente según su naturaleza, y árbol que da fruto, cuya simiente está en él, según su género: y vió Dios que era bueno.
12 The earth yielded grass, herbs yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit, with their seeds in it, after their kind; and God saw that it was good.
13 I bi veče i bi jutro, dan treći.
13 Y fué la tarde y la mañana el día tercero.
13 There was evening and there was morning, a third day.
14 Potom reče Bog: Neka budu videla na svodu nebeskom, da dele dan i noć, da budu znaci vremenima i danima i godinama;
14 Y dijo Dios: Sean lumbreras en la expansión de los cielos para apartar el día y la noche: y sean por señales, y para las estaciones, y para días y años;
14 God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs to mark seasons, days, and years;
15 i neka svetle na svodu nebeskom, da obasjavaju zemlju. I bi tako.
15 Y sean por lumbreras en la expansión de los cielos para alumbrar sobre la tierra: y fué así.
15 and let them be for lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth;” and it was so.
16 I stvori Bog dva videla velika: videlo veće da upravlja danom, i videlo manje da upravlja noću, i zvezde.
16 E hizo Dios las dos grandes lumbreras; la lumbrera mayor para que señorease en el día, y la lumbrera menor para que señorease en la noche: [hizo] también las estrellas.
16 God made the two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He also made the stars.
17 I postavi ih Bog na svodu nebeskom da obasjavaju zemlju.
17 Y púsolas Dios en la expansión de los cielos, para alumbrar sobre la tierra,
17 God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light to the earth,
18 I da upravljaju danom i noću, i da dele svetlost od tame. I vide Bog da je dobro.
18 Y para señorear en el día y en la noche, y para apartar la luz y las tinieblas: y vió Dios que era bueno.
18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. God saw that it was good.
19 I bi veče i bi jutro, dan četvrti.
19 Y fué la tarde y la mañana el día cuarto.
19 There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.
20 Potom reče Bog: Neka vrve po vodi žive duše, i ptice neka lete iznad zemlje pod svod nebeski.
20 Y dijo Dios: Produzcan las aguas reptil de ánima viviente, y aves que vuelen sobre la tierra, en la abierta expansión de los cielos.
20 God said, “Let the waters abound with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the sky.”
21 I stvori Bog kitove velike i sve žive duše što se miču, što provrveše po vodi po vrstama svojim, i sve ptice krilate po vrstama njihovim. I vide Bog da je dobro;
21 Y crió Dios las grandes ballenas, y toda cosa viva que anda arrastrando, que las aguas produjeron según su género, y toda ave alada según su especie: y vió Dios que era bueno.
21 God created the large sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed, after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind. God saw that it was good.
22 i blagoslovi ih Bog govoreći: Rađajte se i množite se, i napunite vodu po morima, i ptice neka se množe na zemlji.
22 Y Dios los bendijo diciendo: Fructificad y multiplicad, y henchid las aguas en los mares, y las aves se multipliquen en la tierra.
22 God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”
23 I bi veče i bi jutro, dan peti.
23 Y fué la tarde y la mañana el día quinto.
23 There was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.
24 Potom reče Bog: Neka zemlja pusti iz sebe duše žive po vrstama njihovim, stoku i sitne životinje i zveri zemaljske po vrstama njihovim. I bi tako.
24 Y dijo Dios: Produzca la tierra seres vivientes según su género, bestias y serpientes y animales de la tierra según su especie: y fué así.
24 God said, “Let the earth produce living creatures after their kind, livestock, creeping things, and animals of the earth after their kind;” and it was so.
25 I stvori Bog zveri zemaljske po vrstama njihovim, i stoku po vrstama njenim, i sve sitne životinje na zemlji po vrstama njihovim. I vide Bog da je dobro.
25 E hizo Dios animales de la tierra según su género, y ganado según su género, y todo animal que anda arrastrando sobre la tierra según su especie: y vió Dios que era bueno.
25 God made the animals of the earth after their kind, and the livestock after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind. God saw that it was good.
26 Potom reče Bog: Da načinimo čoveka po svom obličju, kao što smo mi, koji će biti gospodar od riba morskih i od ptica nebeskih i od stoke i od cele zemlje i od svih životinja što se miču po zemlji.
26 Y dijo Dios: Hagamos al hombre á nuestra imagen, conforme á nuestra semejanza; y señoree en los peces de la mar, y en las aves de los cielos, y en las bestias, y en toda la tierra, y en todo animal que anda arrastrando sobre la tierra.
26 God said, “Let’s make man in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
27 I stvori Bog čoveka po obličju svom, po obličju Božjem stvori ga; muško i žensko stvori ih.
27 Y crió Dios al hombre á su imagen, á imagen de Dios lo crió; varón y hembra los crió.
27 God created man in his own image. In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them.
28 I blagoslovi ih Bog, i reče im Bog: Rađajte se i množite se, i napunite zemlju, i vladajte njom, i budite gospodari od riba morskih i od ptica nebeskih i od svih zveri što se miče po zemlji.
28 Y los bendijo Dios; y díjoles Dios: Fructificad y multiplicad, y henchid la tierra, y sojuzgadla, y señoread en los peces de la mar, y en las aves de los cielos, y en todas las bestias que se mueven sobre la tierra.
28 God blessed them. God said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
29 I još reče Bog: Evo, dao sam vam sve bilje što nosi seme po svoj zemlji, i sva drveta rodna koja nose seme; to će vam biti za hranu.
29 Y dijo Dios: He aquí que os he dado toda hierba que da simiente, que está sobre la haz de toda la tierra; y todo árbol en que hay fruto de árbol que da simiente, seros ha para comer.
29 God said, “Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food.
30 A svim zverima zemaljskim i svim pticama nebeskim i svemu što se miče na zemlji i u čemu ima duša živa, dao sam svu travu da jedu. I bi tako.
30 Y á toda bestia de la tierra, y á todas las aves de los cielos, y á todo lo que se mueve sobre la tierra, en que hay vida, toda hierba verde [les será] para comer: y fué así.
30 To every animal of the earth, and to every bird of the sky, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food;” and it was so.
31 Tada pogleda Bog sve što je stvorio, i gle, dobro beše veoma. I bi veče i bi jutro, dan šesti.
31 Y vió Dios todo lo que había hecho, y he aquí que era bueno en gran manera. Y fué la tarde y la mañana el día sexto.
31 God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. There was evening and there was morning, a sixth day.

«Comentario» es el comienzo de una homilía o exposición sobre este capítulo (homilías de san Juan Crisóstomo; tratados, sermones y comentarios a los Salmos de san Agustín). «Cita» es una frase en la que las notas de la propia edición identifican la cita de un versículo de este capítulo; solo se conserva si el texto coincide con el versículo. Solo se usan obras de autoría segura. Los Salmos siguen la numeración hebrea (Agustín usa la de los Setenta: su Salmo 50 es aquí el 51).
Moses, then, they declare, by his mode of beginning the account of the creation, has at the commencement pointed out the mother of all things when he says, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth;" for, as they maintain, by naming these four,--God, beginning, heaven, and earth,--he set forth their Tetrad.
