78:5 El estableció testimonio en Jacob, y pusó ley en Israel; la cual mandó á nuestros padres que la notificasen á sus hijos;
78:6 Para que [lo] sepa la generación venidera, y los hijos que nacerán; y [los que] se levantarán, [lo] cuenten á sus hijos;
78:15 Hendió las peñas en el desierto: y dióles á beber como de grandes abismos;
19 И҆ клевета́ша на бг҃а и҆ рѣ́ша: є҆да̀ возмо́жетъ бг҃ъ ᲂу҆гото́вати трапе́зꙋ въ пꙋсты́ни;
20 Поне́же поразѝ ка́мень, и҆ потеко́ша во́ды, и҆ пото́цы наводни́шасѧ: є҆да̀ и҆ хлѣ́бъ мо́жетъ да́ти; и҆лѝ ᲂу҆гото́вати трапе́зꙋ лю́демъ свои̑мъ;
78:21 Por tanto oyó Jehová, é indignóse: y encendióse el fuego contra Jacob, y el furor subió también contra Israel;
78:29 Y comieron, y hartáronse mucho: cumplióles pues su deseo.
40 Колькра́ты преѡгорчи́ша є҆го̀ въ пꙋсты́ни, прогнѣ́ваша є҆го̀ въ землѝ безво́днѣй;
78:42 No se acordaron de su mano, del día que los redimió de angustia;
78:43 Cuando puso en Egipto sus señales, y sus maravillas en el campo de Zoán;
78:47 Sus viñas destruyó con granizo, y sus higuerales con piedra;
78:56 Mas tentaron y enojaron al Dios Altísimo, y no guardaron sus testimonios;
78:59 Oyólo Dios, y enojóse, y en gran manera aborreció á Israel.
78:60 Dejó por tanto el tabernáculo de Silo, la tienda [en que] habitó entre los hombres;
78:64 Sus sacerdotes cayeron á cuchillo, y sus viudas no lamentaron.
78:67 Y desechó el tabernáculo de José, y no escogió la tribu de Ephraim;

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations). Verse numbers below follow the Hebrew/English numbering: 78.

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).
