2 I učaše ih u pričama mnogo, i govoraše im u nauci svojoj:
3 Oid: He aquí, el sembrador salió á sembrar.
4 I kad sejaše, dogodi se da jedno pade ukraj puta, i dođoše ptice i pozobaše ga.
6 A kad obasja sunce, uvenu, i budući da nemaše korena, usahnu.
7 I drugo pade u trnje; i naraste trnje i udavi ga, i ne donese rod.
11 I reče im: Vama je dano da znate tajne carstva Božjeg, a onima napolju sve u pričama biva;
11 Y les dijo: A vosotros es dado saber el misterio del reino de Dios; mas á los que están fuera, por parábolas todas las cosas;
13 I reče im: Zar ne razumete ovu priču? A kako ćete sve priče razumeti?
16 Tako su i ono što se seje na kamenitim mestima, koji kad čuju reč odmah je prime s radošću;
16 Y asimismo éstos son los que son sembrados en pedregales: los que cuando han oído la palabra, luego la toman con gozo;
18 Y éstos son los que son sembrados entre espinas: los que oyen la palabra;
19 ali brige ovog sveta i prevara bogatstva i ostale slasti uđu i zaguše reč, i bez roda ostane.
26 I govoraše im: Tako je carstvo Božje kao čovek kad baci seme u zemlju;
26 Decía más: Así es el reino de Dios, como si un hombre echa simiente en la tierra;
27 i spava i ustaje noću i danju; i seme niče i raste, da ne zna on.
28 Porque de suyo fructifica la tierra, primero hierba, luego espiga, después grano lleno en la espiga;
29 A kad sazre rod, odmah pošalje srp; jer nasta žetva.
31 Ono je kao zrno gorušičino koje kad se poseje u zemlju manje je od svih semena na zemlji;
31 Es como el grano de mostaza, que, cuando se siembra en tierra, es la más pequeña de todas las simientes que hay en la tierra;
33 I takvim mnogim pričama kazivaše im reč, koliko mogahu slušati.
A učenicima posebno kazivaše sve.
35 I reče im onaj dan uveče: Hajdemo na one strane.
36 I otpustivši narod uzeše Ga kako beše u lađi; a i druge lađe behu s Njim.
38 A On na krmi spavaše na uzglavlju; i probudiše Ga, i rekoše Mu: Učitelju!
39 I ustavši zapreti vetru, i reče moru: Ćuti, prestani. I utoli vetar, i postade tišina velika.
40 I reče im: Zašto ste tako strašljivi? Kako nemate vere.
¿Cómo no tenéis fe?

What the Fathers said

Passages from the Church Fathers that expound or quote this chapter, verbatim from the public-domain Schaff edition (19th-century English translations).

How these were chosen

“Commentary” is the opening of a homily or exposition on this chapter (John Chrysostom’s homilies, Augustine’s tractates, sermons and expositions of the Psalms). “Quotes” are sentences where the edition’s own footnotes identify a quotation of a verse here, kept only when the wording matches the verse. Only works whose authorship is not in doubt are used. Psalms follow the Hebrew/English numbering (Augustine numbers them as the Septuagint does: his Psalm 50 is Psalm 51 here).

  1. Quotes verse 4:28 Irenaeus of Lyons, Against Heresies (Book IV, Chapter XVIII)

    … if they do not call Himself the Son of the Creator of the world, that is, His Word, through whom the wood fructifies, and the fountains gush forth, and the earth gives "first the blade, then the ear, then the full corn in the ear."

  2. Quotes verse 4:13 John Chrysostom, Homilies on the Gospel of Matthew (Homily XLIV)

    Therefore also another evangelist saith that He reproved them, because they do not understand; saying, "How knew ye not the parable?" But not for this cause only doth He speak in parables, but that He may also make His discourse more vivid, and fix the memory of it in them more perfectly, and bring the things before their sight.
