1 Malditos sean los que bajan a Egipto en busca de ayuda y ponen su fe en los caballos. Buscan salvación en los carros de guerra porque son muchos, y en los jinetes porque son muy fuertes. Pero no buscan al Santo de Israel ni vuelven su corazón al Señor.
1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, and trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they don’t look to the Holy One of Israel, and they don’t seek Yahweh!
2 Él, sin embargo, es sabio y puede enviar el mal. Su propósito no cambiará; actuará contra la casa de los malvados y contra aquellos en quienes buscan ayuda.
2 Yet he also is wise, and will bring disaster, and will not call back his words, but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of those who work iniquity.
3 Los egipcios son hombres, no Dios; sus caballos son carne, no espíritu. Cuando el Señor extienda su mano, caerán juntos el que ayuda y el que recibe ayuda.
3 Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When Yahweh stretches out his hand, both he who helps shall stumble, and he who is helped shall fall, and they all shall be consumed together.
4 El Señor me ha dicho: Como un león o un león joven que ruge sobre su comida, que no teme las voces de un grupo de pastores que salen contra él ni abandona su comida por el ruido que hacen, así el Señor de los ejércitos bajará para hacer la guerra contra el monte Sión y su colina.
4 For Yahweh says to me, “As the lion and the young lion growling over his prey, if a multitude of shepherds is called together against him, will not be dismayed at their voice, nor abase himself for their noise, so Yahweh of Armies will come down to fight on Mount Zion and on its heights.
5 Como aves con las alas extendidas, el Señor de los ejércitos protegerá a Jerusalén. La protegerá y la salvará; al pasar sobre ella la guardará del peligro.
5 As birds hovering, so Yahweh of Armies will protect Jerusalem. He will protect and deliver it. He will pass over and preserve it.”
6 Vuelvan a aquel contra quien los hijos de Israel han pecado tan profundamente.
6 Return to him from whom you have deeply revolted, children of Israel.
7 En aquel día todos abandonarán sus imágenes de plata y de oro, el pecado que hicieron para sí mismos.
7 For in that day everyone shall cast away his idols of silver and his idols of gold—sin which your own hands have made for you.
8 El asirio caerá por una espada que no es de hombre; una espada que no es de hombres lo destruirá. Huirá de la espada y sus jóvenes serán sometidos a trabajos forzados.
8 “The Assyrian will fall by the sword, not of man; and the sword, not of mankind, shall devour him. He will flee from the sword, and his young men will become subject to forced labor.
9 Su roca quedará en nada por el miedo, y sus jefes huirán ante la bandera, dice el Señor, cuyo fuego está en Sión y cuyo altar está en Jerusalén.
9 His rock will pass away by reason of terror, and his princes will be afraid of the banner,” says Yahweh, whose fire is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.
