1 EN el año que vino Thartán á Asdod, cuando le envió Sargón rey de Asiria, y peleó contra Asdod y la tomó;
1 In the year that Tartan came to Ashdod, when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him, and he fought against Ashdod and took it;
2 in tempore illo locutus est Dominus in manu Isaiæ, filii Amos, dicens: Vade, et solve saccum de lumbis tuis, et calceamenta tua tolle de pedibus tuis.
2 at that time Yahweh spoke by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, “Go, and loosen the sackcloth from off your waist, and take your sandals from off your feet.” He did so, walking naked and barefoot.
3 Et dixit Dominus: [Sicut ambulavit servus meus Isaias nudus et discalceatus, trium annorum signum et portentum erit super Ægyptum et super Æthiopiam;
3 Y dijo Jehová: De la manera que anduvo mi siervo Isaías desnudo y descalzo tres años, señal y pronóstico sobre Egipto y sobre Etiopía;
3 Yahweh said, “As my servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and a wonder concerning Egypt and concerning Ethiopia,
4 so the king of Assyria will lead away the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Ethiopia, young and old, naked and barefoot, and with buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.
5 They will be dismayed and confounded, because of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.
6 Et dicet habitator insulæ hujus in die illa: Ecce hæc erat spes nostra, ad quos confugimus in auxilium, ut liberarent nos a facie regis Assyriorum: et quomodo effugere poterimus nos?]
6 The inhabitants of this coast land will say in that day, ‘Behold, this is our expectation, where we fled for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria. And we, how will we escape?’”

  1. Cita 20:2 John Chrysostom, Homilies on the Gospel of Matthew (Homily XVIII)

    Since Adam too was "naked" in paradise, "and was not ashamed;" and Isaiah was "naked, and barefoot," and more glorious than all the Jews; and Joseph also, when he stripped himself, did then more than ever shine forth.
